Where to Shop:
For a little bit of everything you might need to stock up once you get here, the Marketplace shopping center is ideal. It has a gourmet shop, a grocery store, a drug store, a hardware store and many other shops and restaurants. Just a short 5 minute drive away from the property or a pleasant 20 minute walk.
Another well stocked grocery store is the Dolphin market. It has great fruits, vegetables and other groceries for competitive prices. It is also just a short 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk away.
Mongoose Junction is at the far end of town and is a nice upscale shopping and dining complex with brew pub, a deli, a variety of other shops and restaurants.
What to do:
Watersports - there are several spots to go scuba diving, rent snorkel gear, rent hobie cats or larger sail boats, go charter fishing, enjoy a sunset sails or a full day of sailing or motor boating. Also, dingy rentals are a great and affordable option to see the island by water and be in control of oyur agenda and schedule. Hiking - is big on St. John because of the pristine natural state of the island, the large national park lands, the extensive trails and the beautiful weather. The National Park has maps for self directed hiking and schedules many guided interpetive hikes with park rangers as guides.
History and Archeology - There are many historical ruins from the sugar plantation era such as sugar mills, great houses and slave quarters and there are ancient indian sites all over the island.
